    Long shot of the week.

Don't suppose any one has a metal detector they could lend me or come round and help me my idiot mate find a small lost metal item. I idiot mate spent half an hour in the dark rain trying to find this item. Hopefully it'll turn up in the day light but I did lose a set of keys for two years...

    Ring?
I've only got one of those voltage/metal handheld thingbies.

Ring. Fingers must have contracted in the cold and fell off with my gloves.

Not sure if the stud detector will work, can't hurt to have a go.

Cheers iwrats, I was looking for a local group. It's a tiny garden it would take moments with a decent tool and the experience in its use.

Handy site. I note from the Q&A page they can shine insight on my greiff.

Some kind of small lion/eagle hybrid, perhaps? Does everyone have one?

I used to live round the corner from Henrietta's. Now I know what it was kept going through the bin bags - tiny lion/eagle hybrids. Fly, my pretties!

    Oh my actual word...

    Hey, good Amazon reviews:

"Henrietta took me on her roller coaster experience. The ups and downs the sorrow and delight. I laughed and cried often holding my breath in anticipation. This is a story of a woman who just would not give up, rising above other peoples insecurities she maintains her integrity and ultimately finds her souls purpose."

It's almost worth paying out the £6.20 to share in the emotions. Forum buy?

    "Forum buy?"

I'm up for both that and inviting her to do a reading at PY.

IWRATS I think you are too new to the forum to get the reference to glasses in the canal.
    This thread explains all.

@steveo don't know if this is any help but a cautionary tale for you all. I recently "lost" my wedding ring. I thought it had dropped off when taking my gloves off so hunted high and low and couldn't find it anywhere. Turned up a week later in the bottom of my panniers, must have slid off when I was rummaging around for something just before setting off. Much relief all round I can tell you.

Seems to be a theme here. My wedding ring was lost in the sand of West Sands in St Andrews. My Father in Law saved the day when he managed to find it.

Any joy with your quest? Did the magic wand brigade take the bait?

I did a finger tip search of the likely area yesterday and turned up naught so I've sent a pleading email along the lines "help me metal detectorist your my only hope!"

geordiefatbloke tragically it definitely flew off my hand, I heard it clink once but not again so I was unable to triangulate likely direction of travel.

Good luck - happy to participate in CCE fingertip search if the detectorists don't fancy it (but sure they will).

Lost a ring or article of sentimental value? Then we will attempt to recover it for you. This a free service which the club has always provided for people who have lost jewellery, keys, tools, machine parts - in fact anything which is made from metal or has metal parts.
