Well I am a union man with a small u. But that was a hit for the strawbs in 1973.

Trotify have gone to a lot of trouble to sell no product. The corrective spelling tried to make that Trotskyfy and the principle would still hold.

The horse heads also flat pack but not the same amount of promotion to presumably also sell no product.

Tried to buy robert wyatt retrospective from my friends at FOPP yesterday but not out officially til Monday. They showed me the album, he looks like Father Christmas on the front. He has gone to a lot of trouble to avoid putting his better known songs on the cd, indeed the second album is purely arcane stuff nobody has heard. My friends at FOPP want £12. It would have needed Shiipbuilding on it and the one about pigs. I will pick it up when it sells zero and is reduced to a fiver. Robert knows I am going to do this and he understands this when he deliberately sets out to provoke his fans and prevent himself from becoming famous. I think of him sometimes with warmth and I also wonder if he was changed much when he fell out the window and broke his back. Sings like an angel with a high South London accent ( but will google to check it isn"t Brentford) born in Bristol, maybe still here that but largely london South east I hear?

My young friends in FOPP thanked me for my Wyatt info as they had never heard of him. E.g. He was the drummer in soft machine not the frontman that was kevin ayres. Though could be argued concepts such as frontman were old hat as far as soft machine concerned.

My young friends in FOPP will be playing the album. The title Different Every Time is true.

My favourite Robert Wyatt song (although it's a cover) is Stalin Wasn't Stallin'

Did you scratch that line on the lift of the ADam smith building at Glasgow uni in 1983?

Not me. I'd already flunked out of Glasgow Uni by that time.

@Insto, I seem to recall there is a poetry recital about the battle of Stalingrad on the same album. Wyatt was a member of the Communist party at the time, wasn't he?

The poem is on the b-side of the single. As well as the later album Nothing Can Stop us. Wiki corroborates the CP membership, not sure if then CPGB or Eurocommunist
