Over the past week there seems to have been an attempt to block the chicane/dangerous tactiles avoidance route, by someone placing a couple of large stone setts between the chicane fence and a tree. I threw them to the side on Wednesday but they were carefully re-placed this morning. This morning they were back (clearly someone upset by cyclists going the grass/mud route), so I removed both the stones a safe distance.
It'll be interesting to see if they're back on Monday.
It must've taken quite an effort to bring the stones from wherever to the location as they're pretty heavy too! No doubt the perpetrator doesn't have a clue as to why cyclists are taking the chicane/tactile avoidance route.

I normally cycle beyond the trees, so the trees are between me and the path.

I normally cycle on the path, so the chicane gate is between me and the trees/rocks.

But the point winpig is that the whole design is awful and quite frankly dangerous. The chicanes-bad enough but the crazy tactiles are just plain dangerous for cyclists. others have already commented on witnessing cyclists coming to grief on those wheel catchers.

@Bigjack Yes yes. Aware thereof. I go through them every day and popped along to measure them/buggy-test/trailer-sample them when they first appeared.

I've been moving those stones too in the evenings. They look like they are setts from nearer the police station. I don't think it's just to stop people going round the chicanes though as the gap between the chicanes had been filled with branches too one night
