Cyclist down on Broomhouse Roundabout between the Broomhouse Drive and Bankhead Avenue exits when I walked to work this morning ~07:05.

Looked like the rider was still down on the ground and a car was very close to where the bike was on its side. Won't speculate on cause of RTI.

A few folk were already gathered around and a cyclist filtered through the standstill traffic and promptly dismounted to see everything ok so I didn't get involved. Heard sirens shortly after.

Hope everything turns out ok for the rider and wishing them a speedy recovery.

    Ouch.

Came close to being taken out here last week, when a 4x4 driver saw me coming around the roundabout and decided to drive out regardless. I ended up alongside the offside doors.

It's still better than riding along the path and waiting half an hour for all the crossings. If only we had a political party that would deliver on presumed liability, rather than getting all Daily Mail when it comes to cycling, incidents like mine just wouldn't happen.

  3. For years I rode on the roads along Broomhouse / Bankhead towards the Gyle, but after too many close calls (and the ever-worsening state of the road surface along Bankhead), I gave up and now use the path. The crossing lights can be a real pain, but I mostly manage to get across without much - or any - waiting.
