    5mph as the speed limit?

    My normal walking page is around 4mph.

    Maybe Big John could be issued with a uniform and a towpath radar gun?

    @gibbo

    posters on the road.cc feed said, with justification, that joggers should be picked up as well...

    Strange that the police up here don't want to enforce 20 mph limits on roads but down there, they are enforcing 5 mph limits on paths. I wonder if they ever look at evidence and think properly about safety when setting priorities. If not they are wasting tax-payers money.

    Suspect they are 'park police', bit like Holyrood used to have.

    Mmm...

    There have probably been complaints from the horse lobby. They draw a lot of water in Hyde Park.

    I think that at 5mph many bike riders would be more of a hazard as they wobble along the path

    Jeremy Vine said he will now cycle at walking pace.

    In a way it is a way to ban cycling by anyone except small children, by making it quicker to walk than to cycle legally...

  12. I always assumed speed limits only applied to motor vehicles.

    No limit on the road, I will lead you out and you can break the 30mph at Woolfords if slight East wind. Can be done for reckless or dangerous cycling though (unlikely at Woolfords).

    Vine would have been busted in the park even if limit was 15mph which is living on the edge.

    Cyclists acting like cars as far as pedestrians are concerned? Check what IWRATS is trying to do with his novel about the canal towpath. He is humanising the shared users. We want to be this charming man and stop and chat to big John e.g. What shopping you up to today John etc. Just never admit to cycling on it at night. Slow down, smile, get to work a minute lAter, throw your strava device in the drink. Live your life in the moment it is happening do not rush from one moment to the other oblivious of your surroundings. Notice the kingfishers

    Clearly I am an open book to you. Have you spotted that the true aim of the project is to humanise IWRATS?
