"Paul Matthews, Professional officer, Cycling" (I forwarded it to you at the time, so it's somewhere in your files too, if you've not cleared them of detritus).

What is the tool of choice, since SMW also needs doing?

I use standard plastic snow shovel but I believe @SRD had a custom made implement?

a wide shovel designed for pushing not lifting is good. also a very stiff broom (the one I brought not stiff enough). and, on NMW, a flat edged spade for cutting excess turf that has grown out over the pavement.

@SRD - excellent work. One of the many exhausting aspects of cycle campaigning and advocacy is that the same arguments and actions have to made time and time again. Leaf clearing, gritting, street lighting - the very basics that we should be able to take for granted have to be argued for each year.

How many of us have swept glass, shovelled leaves, cut back vegetation, re-erected wands, moved road signs and a whole host of other actions? All good, community minded stuff, but not really the way to run what is meant to be an important part of our transport system.

That "broom cam" is very weird to watch! Good throwback thread.

@Morningsider just reminded me of this:
