    This morning struggling uphill on Haddington Place at ~7.30 (16 Jan). I have the details of the van but no video evidence. I was passed by one other cyclist who I hope may be a forum member.

    Go and check out the area for CCTV. Were any Lothian Buses passing nearby?

    Yeah, there was a Lothian Bus behind me. I've tried phoning 101 but it's a pointless exercise of being on hold for five minutes before being told you can't actually report crimes on their "report a crime" hotline. Am in two minds about reporting to my nearest police station ASAP (Linlithgow) or waiting until I'm home this evening and reporting to Gayfield Square which is local to me and the incident.

    @Dougal

    Lothian Buses CCTV will be held on the bus DVR for 3 to 5 days depending on the model so if you wish to proceed with this then you'll need to move quick.

    Yep, I've emailed LRT already. Will be reporting the incident at latest this evening back in Edinburgh otherwise lunchtime today.

    Hope you're ok. What happened? I appreciate you may be unable to say, depending upon circumstances / investigations.

    I'm fine; he only attempted to hit me for the amusement of his passenger, rather than succeeding. Had the wherewithal to write down reg# and company name while it was fresh.

    You have to use the police station local to the incident. If you visit another police station, they'll listen sympathetically, try to persuade you not to bother, then advise that you'll have to visit the local one anyway.

    I'd suggest that this time-wasting step is skipped...

    Hope this results in visit from the polis. If compnay of repute they may also get disciplined?

    We used to have helpful polis who posted on here, indeed one of them came and met us at PY. That was in LAB days.

    That's rough. I hope you get a police response and let us know they've taken it seriously.
