For example, why a whole stream of cars didn't bother to slow to let me back in after letting an ambulance pass (often happens when I'm in a car too).

It makes sense. Driving a car used to make me stressed in itself, whereas I think riding a bike usually makes us more relaxed and open--plus it helps not having a metal and glass enclosure if you want to say hello! Makes me think of Robert Pirsig's whole discussion of motorcycles vs. cars, too...
