    Bicycle User Groups
    Overview
Bicycle User Groups (BUGs) provide a conduit for communication between cyclists and the University.
The University of Edinburgh BUG's act as a communication link between the University and staff, students and visitors of the University to create an environment that is both physically and culturally encouraging to those who wish to cycle.
There are four BUG's which are set up for the following University sites:
    Central Area BUG
    King's Buildings BUG
    New Royal Infirmary Edinburgh BUG
    Western General Hospital BUG

There's one for Heriot-Watt as well, which was set up by the Transition group based there, but it hasn't been all that active: http://www.transition.hw.ac.uk/get-cycling/cycling-at-heriot-watt-2/heriot-watt-bicycle-user-group/

The BUGs are mailing lists for dissemination of occasional cycling-related announcements from on high, e.g. to advertise the periodic visits by Dr. Bike. A few years ago people started swapping advice on useful commuting routes on one of the mailing lists but this was quickly stamped out by the list owner as it was making people unsubscribe. Some years later on the Central list there was an outbreak of protest about bike stores being full of abandoned bikes.
    That's about it.
When asked I just direct people to CCE.

CC sums it up well, although I have had good luck in getting Pop and such stuff mentioned in the lists too.
