Had to miss this one due to lurgy. :-( Real shame to have missed the fun (and all of you). My husband went though, I was a bit surprised as I thought I was dragging him the previous years! Well done to everyone as always.

So much for the 07.30 departure.... Headed off from Kelvingrove Park solo probably the wrong side of 08.10 (left my gloves so turned back).

Looked to be one rider waiting in George Square

Solid riding out along Duke Street and cut over to Edinburgh Road, through Baillieston. Later start meant steadily increasing tailwind and growing % of blue bits of sky as dark grey bits kept moving away in front.

The stiff climb up from Coatbridge to Airdrie, and climbing steps up to the moor top at Forestfield were a bit slow, down to c.5 mph on stiffer bits. First sign of another Glasgow feeder at Caldercruix, just fixed flat. saw him go on to catch up with another rider, and around 6 of us going down the hill to Bathgate where 30+ bikes outside a cafe all heading in.

As my top speed limited by 1 gear I pressed on but did stop for a can of juice. Increasing tailwind meant I was holding 15-20+ mph, and rolled in to Meadows just as the ride setting off.

Just one downside - generally I'm doing urban utility riding 10-12 miles at most across London, less in Glasgow. So 50 miles at one sitting without endurance preparation ... = hot bath. Hip injury (2001) might be causing a grumble which made left side power stroke a bit painful, and put paid to riding back up from Holyrood.

Citylink 900 back. Landed lucky with Stagecoach operated service, & driver I know. Nice one for those paying fares, the £7.50 special offer is no longer sold by the coach driver BUT is still sold at the ticket office....

Now I've met IWRATS, Morningsider and a few more forumites as well - so a useful day.

We were rather concerned that you might try to cycle home. I'm glad that you didn't. Good to meet you, too.

Video of the first few minutes of the ride. The counter can't really cope!

(Is the temperature readout still about 3° high?)

Just a reminder to take some wire cutters or scissors with you on tomorrow's commute and take down any POP posters you see around the please.

    Until next year...

I've taken the Roseburn Park/Pinkhill path/Balgreen chicane ones down. (I was on my way to that when I spotted you)

I had an experimental camera rig attached to my bike (monopod plus cable ties). It rattled a bit but worked pretty well I think. Here's the result:

I think that's very good. Best angle on it yet I'd say....!

Turn sound down maybe as you can hear road noise. Gets the feel of he event really well.

I nearly removed all of the video sound, because the monopod and drivetrain was a bit intrusive, but I decided to leave it as an exercise for the viewer. :-)

Nice to see some of the handcycles etc at the beginning of chdot's video.

I'm very sorry that I could not make it. Hopefully Boyfriend Of Fimm won't want to do that race next year...
