I guess a photo of me on top of a Munro, with "I vote for..." isn't quite what you're after? ;-)
(I mean, I did walk to get up there...)

More seriously, that line about cycling being a hobby is just bizarre. I mean, do they really think that all those people hauling bikes on and off trains, or cycling around at 7am or 10pm, are just out for a pootle? Is there no concept that we might be going somewhere?

@fimm I wouldn't take it to heart. They don't want to understand - they are just looking for a reaction. The more reaction they get, the more empowered they feel. This is probably to fill some sort of vacuum that exists in their lives.
If I ever read the comments (which is not often), the most pervading sense I get is one of fear; fear of change, fear of people who do something different to themselves, and fear of being shifted from their car seats, which they have invested a lot of money and emotion in acquiring.

@Fimm - it is walking too, and if there's something that you want the Scottish government to do to make Munros more accessible then go for it.

(Extreme down hill bromptoning can be quite fine but I've only ever done it on tarmac)

Sorry, the Munros comment was probably a bit too silly for a serious thread.
(On the subject of access to the hills, in Scotland we have some really excellent legislation and much more freedom than in England and Wales to go where we want. There are organisations (like the Mountaineering Council of Scotland) who campaign in this area and through whom I can make my views known if I want. For "We Walk, We Cycle, We Vote" I think something more urban (and involving me in normal clothes on my Brompton) is required!)
