This is a dreadful rat run. Drivers use Leven terrace / glengyle terrace to avoid toll cross/ kings junction. I presume so e of them start up on Lauriston place, come down through to Lonsdale place (haven't look at the options) and the. Cut across Melville drive to Leven terrace. About once a month some idiot nearly takes me out there.

Any clever ideas on how to make it less tempting? Permeable infra?

How about some nice chicanes on the exit from Lonsdale Terrace set, let's say, about 4 metres apart. Should slow them down!

@srd where do they nearly take you out? You're on Melville Drive and they're crossing M Drive into Leven Terrace?

Permeable (to cyclists) block at the corner where Leven Terrace becomes Glengyle Terrace? (Actually this doesn't work as you'd have to make both roads two way - but then maybe that would slow traffic down and anyway if the roads cease to be through routes the only people driving on them would be people parking up near their flats so that wouldn't be such a problem.)

only solution i can see is to make them one way in different directions.

Can anyone see any reason why this wasn't done in the first place?

If in doubt, the usual answer is "maintain traffic flow".

Might some of the routing around here be potentially up for rearrangement following the Canal-to-Meadows stuff? For people who lived on Leven Terrace but were approaching it from Melville, would chuntering around to Valleyfield add extra clog to Tollcross? Would reversing Valleyfield be possible with the disinclination of anything going along Leven St to let anyone out of a side road?

yeah, i'd emailed the council earlier today to ask how this is being factored into canal-meadows. i recall that when either you or I mentioned it at the consultation the council officer there took note of it.
