Where? Criterium Cycles is located at Dobbies Garden World, Melville Nurseries, Lasswade and we are grateful to our good friends at Dobbies - they have made their restaurant area available to us for the evening so we can get a decent number of people in as possible.

I still haven't been out for a look. Must be doing OK. Wonder if it 'grew the market' or 'just' got customers from elsewhere.

Yay! I got a ticket! Anyone fancy a ride out that night?

Got my ticket too :)
Have just ordered my new 'fast' bike from them at the weekend. Very good service and advice.
New bikes come with a fit - I had a very enjoyable 3 hours discussion working out what to order.
I was recommended them and having been round most of the LBS in Edinburgh I can see why they are doing well.

Just got my ticket too. They've sold 55 of the 200 available tix so far...
@WC Could be up for a ride out, work/weather-depending.

Depends what you are used to :) I do it most days. It's quite fast for both bikes (downhill) and cars. It's mostly unlit. There's a shared use path alongside it. The bit front the bypass south can have a queue on it (but just jump on the path).

Can't decide whether to go!

Many thanks for your help :)
That's really what I was looking for - someone with a good working knowledge of the road at commuting o'clock...

I tried to get through on the phone this afternoon but was constantly engaged :(

They've sold out. After finally deciding to go, I just missed the boat. Never mind - could go cycling instead :)

@amir, at least you won't have to endure the cheerless surroundings of Dobbies 'restaurant'. A bike ride is far preferable! :-)

Just noticed that Hankchief mentioned above that he'd been to Criterium for his new 'fast' bike. By my reckoning, that means that n>=4. From what I've seen there's practical bike, enormous bike, fast bike and now-even-faster bike. Are you operating (or being required to operate) a one-in, one-out policy?

@greenroofer: As long as I can get in to feed the tiger I see no problem to adding the fleet :)
They all get used on a monthly basis so the investment committee is happy. You also missed 1 of my bikes - Old fast bike - the one I offered you to start your sportive/audax career ;) It's currently set up as my turbo bike though.

Given there's going to be a chance to meet him (and get photos, in a celeb selfie stylee) I've got an idea for a print in mind, to get signed, then hang it in the garage amongst the bikes, event number plates, and a stolen TdF sign.

Sounds cool, but do you have an authentic "CYCLISTS SLOW DOWN!!!!!!" sign in the collection? :P
Posted 10 years ago # -
Personally I think a nice blue cyclist dismount sign at the door to the bike shed would be the ultimate accessory.

You could get one of these from the top of Dalry colonies

Booo, sold out. :-(

So next week I'm going to an event hosted by a bike shop to see a cycling star which will be attended by 200 people who, it's fair to say, are all likely to be cyclists. I didn't really expect when I replied to an email about the event to ask about bike parking to be told there was space for 8 bikes, so it would probably be better to drive out....

Mmm, not good.
Some years ago 'roadies' (mostly) didn't cycle for 'transport'.
But these days??

There's more only a wriggle-shaped rack on the left of the main door. Café is near the back fence so I'd just take it in and park near the shed display area.

“ Café is near the back fence so I'd just take it in and park near the shed display area.“
Access there will depend whether they open the doors through to the shop.
Lothian bus no 3 and 29 pass by.
I'd offer secure parking but my house is a mile away

Fab night, he's really good value. He saw my bare legs and said they must be cold. I told him he was soft.
Had the company of PS. Saw Fimm was we were seated, but not after.

Boyfriend Of Fimm and I were a bit behind you in the queue. Yes, it was a good evening. BoF really enjoyed it, and now has a signed Strathpuffer sticker (as well as a poster).
Also Spotted Shuggiet but no one else (from here) that I recognised.
