“At Ratho, we’re already looking at acquiring a site for car parking"

Came across this sign today on the canal near the Ratho Park Golf Club.

New Marina by Ratho Park Golf club?

Couldn't see any work happening and I didn't need to take the towpath diversion as I turned off there.

    Map

Nothing on the Scottish Canal website about it either.

Part of the housing development N, NE-ish of the Bridge Inn at Ratho?

    https://www.cala.co.uk/homes/development/Ratho

Once a certain % of the development had been sold, work was to start on the "marina".

Ironic as I thought that development would lead to canal paving not canal closure

  9. Aye but to be fair (NWC) there are no cars either.

Or horses for that matter ;-)

Could be a couple of old frames in the canal, you never know!

Maybe it's just the way I'm looking at it, but at the foot of the illustration the water level looks higher than the path. Jings - another first for Edinburgh . . .

    ...take a canoe to work.

I was walking along the canal many years ago and saw a guy I knew canoeing home from work.

He worked at Craiglockart. Not sure where he lived, but he was headed west.

(And, despite his muscles, really wasn't going any faster than I was walking.)
