    IME:

    • Mitts, good but with a funny smell that never washes out.
    • Bike computer, useless.

  3. Mitts - love them! Never used any other brand since I started cycling in 2006. I have a pile of unworn ones as I used to buy a few pairs each time they came on sale. Their durability has meant that I still have almost all of them sitting unworn!

Sure, a few pairs have come apart within a few months butt at a few quid a pop it's never been a disaster.

Never had a smell issue with them like @dougal. Maybe an enzyme in my sweat kills it off? ;-)

I would agree the mitts are good value. Not as comfy over distance as 'brand' mitts though (e.g. Spesh, Altura...).

I have both the track pump and work stand and both have been excellent value in the 3 or so years I've had them. Would recommend.

The bike tool kit is not great but, at £4.99, is almost worth getting for the underseat bag alone.

Can't remember if it's from Lidl or Aldi but the merino baselayer I bought a couple of years ago is still going strong.

MrSRD was first in queue at Dalry. Lidl. Work stand procured.

Was it someone from here who was there at roughly the same time?

@sallyhinch you and I may wear our merino year round, but I think It's usually only on sale in the autumn for winter wear

Got a softshell and some socks at Dalry about 8.30 - not much take-up at that stage.

Thanks for the review, condor2378. I got myself a pump and workstand last night. Both are much sturdier than I imagined from the pictures on the website. I am looking forward to more comfortable maintenance sessions on my bike.

Aldi have a mountain bike event at the minute - rucksacks, men's and women's jerseys and jackets, bike stands, Garmin 200s, muc off cleaning products and others.

Got men's and women's merino baselayer from previous promotin for £14 each in Dunfermline store yesterday.

Running event on Thursday with more items that could be used for cycling.

@CyclingEdin @SpokesLothian do your own bicycle maintenance? Bargainbase on Seafield Road has ex-Lidl maintenance stands for £5 (were £40).

The stand and the pump are great prices, dependent on child labour factors in developing world / China. However most dearer products also contain this factor.

@gembo - agreed on both the pump and stand, but sadly also the child labour.

Ethical cycle gear/ clothing is one for another thread -I'll start one up.

  17. Time to pick up some new socks. I've had two pairs of their cycling socks since around 2007, and one of the pairs is finally starting to showing signs of a tiny hole. Incredible value, and possibly the strongest and most indestructible socks I've owned in my life!

But don't buy their running socks which developed holes after the second time I wore them!
