Surely a laidback position would be better for this activity. Lower centre of gravity. A bit like a pedalo really.

There's an Oor Wullie cartoon from years back where he gets 2 canoes, mounts his bike in the middle, adds a sort of flap wheel to the rear wheel and goes cycling up the Stoorie Burn.
