The Cycle Service is one year young end of this week.

I'm sure we'd all like to wish them another happy year of spannering.

They may have cake on Thursday for their most loyal customers according to their FaceBook page.... I reckon I may get two slices for this shameless plug :-)

Of course other bike shops are available. Some of the new wave of independent shops have been going for a while longer - eg Hart's Cyclery, BikeSmith, Pedals

I've not visited Cycle Service (a bit out of my way) but I've only heard good things about it.

It's encouraging that there are a number of these independents around now. Hopefully as the number of people cycling increases they'll see even more business

with the cycle service just round the corner from my work it's my go-to place for repair issues. pleased so far with all my visits.

In fact...I remember walking in with a broken chain and, me being a total novice and not having a clue, I asked the guy (Chris I think) for a new chain and cassette as that's what I thought I needed and expected to be about £100 out of pocket. He could have easily just done that but he looked at the chain and said that he could fit some sort of link there and then and it would cost me about £6.50. That's when I know a place is good....when they don't try and screw over someone that doesn't really know the game. (I also don't trust car garages but that's a different story ;-))

@Laidback, two pieces of cake here with your name on them! @Beano, glad we could help, it's what we're here for.

We have indeed been open for a year and are asking for feedback here: http://tinyurl.com/mnhae5r so we know how we're doing. Takes about two minutes and all responses will be entered into a draw to win free labour on their next service (worth £40). Anyone who's passing on Thursday is very welcome to pop in for cake.

I had a great service when I called in too, thanks guys!

Also, the cafe next door which looks like a normal greasy spoon is actually a very nice greek place and is always full of greek people, this made me and Aspa very happy when we found it.
