Will check the other papers today, in case headline about researchers finding scottish voters have been subjected to a mass delusion whereby voting SNP has any point (in a westminster election)

All depends where one puts the centre spot! It suits most parties to declare that the centre is roughly somewhere near where their own policies lie and they're either just left or right of it, or perhaps even exactly over it.
I prefer to think of most parties in terms of not where they lie in relation to an arbitrary, self-declared centre but rather than where they lie in relation to the next most right guy, i.e.
UKIP "we're left of the BNP"
Tories "we're left of UKIP"
Labour "we're left of the Tories"
Lib Dems "we're left of Labour"
SNP "we're left of the Lib Dems"
Green "we're lefter than the lot of you"IVBROYG is the new ROYGBIV
