  1. Yes yes yes, I know it sounds like the name of an actress in a certain type of movie, and I know I'll be doing a proper video review of various light sets that the lovely people at The Bike Chain have loaned me (cheers Mark and especially Adam), but I've just put batteries into the CherryBomb and.... Wow!

Why haven't you bought one yet. Go on. Stop reading this.

  5. A. Disney. Cartoon...

Kinda like Pocahontas, but the struggle of a young Texan girl who moves to Nevada. For. Reasons.

Did any one see Kim's rear light, it was very bright. It was like the emitter (LED) didn't have a lens on it so its flash wasn't diffused and very eye catching.

    CherryBomb bright as this?

  8. I'm going to say yes... Hard to tell without knowing settings on the shot and replicating it (which is one of the tests I'll be doing with these lights I currently have in my possession...)

I'll try and dig out the original, though it'll probably be easier to take another shot

FWIW, I did an "in-house" test of the various rear lights we were stocking in TBC last year and opted for the Cherry Bomb for myself.

There are a couple of others (e.g. from Smart) which also have that "non-covered" look to which steveo refers. However, I really like the Cherry Bomb beam pattern (try it against a wall to see what I mean).. and it has an in-built reflector should the batteries fail

Think it is a Dinnotte - perfectly visible on a sunny day.

@Anth, i've dug out the original. Not sure what you'd need to compare but it was taken at about two meters with 1/8th exposure time at f2.8 with a grain inducing 800 iso.

Just acquired one. TBC has good offer on the pack with the 5 LED headlight.

I won't review as that's Anth's job. I can say however that I'm looking forward to trying both items. Particularly like the sensible opening procedure for the headlight. Takes re-chargeables and opening and closing can happen many times with no fuss.
The mount is nice and neat and allows me to use mount with tight space at front of my recumbent (with a little improvisation using 3cm section of old handlebar)

Cherrybomb needs a coin to open - bit like the old oval Cateyes that rewrote the rules way back. It's brighter than some front lights...

Also got the rack light to check out...

Has anyone taken their CherryBomb out in the rain (or tested it in the shower) yet? Just noticed a couple of it-doesn't-like-rain reviews...

I don't think most lights will like much rain as most have a button to push somewhere or access to change batteries, that said that's the cheap ones on my bike and the new ones I picked up the cateye has rubber covered sealed button and a rubber plug on the underside for the charging socket, the electron twin lamps have got a sealed battery unit with it's own cover and connectors to the power leads are seprated by connecting to the switches first

The Reelight doesn't have a switch or a battery cover.

B&M do a battery tail light with a motion sensor and LDR so it only turns on when it's moving in the dark.

Some generator front lights have an sensor option so you don't need to worry about a switch breaking there either.

The Smart lights I had last year shorted to flashing mode, so if they did wet out it just meant they jammed on...

Anth, I'll bring my homebrew tail light to coffee tomorrow to amuse you.

I used a Cherry Bomb (attached to my helmet) all last winter without any issues of it getting wet. Might be worth making sure that the seal is back in the right place after replacing batteries though.

I got me a Cherry Bomb from TBC yesterday, seeing as someone nicked one of my Cateye tail lights a few months back (outside Waitrose, of all places!)

    I turned it on.

    I peered into it.

    I'm still seeing caterpillars.

Mr Kaputnik - I imagine that evil flashing pattern will be etched onto your retinas forevermore. They've apparently doubled their brightness since last year's version (which I've got). Christ knows why, they were bonkers as they were...

Is it possible to order one online for pick up tomorrow? Save postage within the city?

I "heard" 15%, but on checking the receipt, received a whopping 20% :)

If it's only the old version I still haven't lost/destroyed the one I got last year. Very durable - it's survived several drops from saddle-height onto a concrete floor in the office car park when my helmet has failed to be sufficiently safely temporarily placed.

Its good to see they have that option.
Tried ordering but keep getting AVS errors regarding address verification. Sad times.
I'll try and find my other cards and give it a bash with them.
