Hey now! Don't say things like that about Mr Murphy. He's already getting extra police protection.
It's not clear who he is being protected against. At this point it might well be the rest of the Labour party.
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 16years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

This is completely OT, but...
Got this from the Cameo -

We apologise wholeheartedly for the widespread problems our new website has caused. We cannot dodge the bullet here: the online purchasing system in its current form falls far short of what we had hoped to deliver.
...
Why did we change the system? The answer is that it was simply necessary to do so, as our whole company IT infrastructure was changing. The bigger question is how we address the shortcomings.
...
we expect this to be in place in early May. Later this year we will launch a brand new website that will restore all the features we had on our old site
"
An apology - Mr. Clegg tried that, voters don't seem willing to accept/forgive!
Another IT 'disaster' - pretty minor compared with what can go wrong with Universal Credit, the NHS, banks etc.
Clearly the Cameo's owners changed the web site for 'good reasons'. A lot of time, thought and effort must have gone into planning the changes.
There were no real unknown unknown 'events' to take into account.
Just some things to think about when (IF!) reading manifestos, listening to politicians' plans and "promises".
Slightly related to above!

Britain’s next government will face a tougher time than expected reducing Whitehall’s annual spending deficit, according to the International Monetary Fund, which said lower tax receipts and uncertainty surrounding the election would undermine growth forecasts.

@IWRATS that t is quite a flattering picture of skeletor from castle grey skull with Nicky Baby looking like she has swallowed a wasp. Does anyone have a view of Brian alimony eh? Limond (limmy), the scots comic? Whose link IWRATS has linked to? I find his material very dark. He had a sketch once which took place in cottiers theatre pub in hyndland where he, limmy had a new partner he was totally loved up about and was introducing his partner, who he thought was braw to his mates who could not see the merits of the new partner. The partner was a wee old partick man with false teeth and a bunnet. This was about five years ago and has stayed with me. Dark and clever but not particularly funny? Good tho.
I have bored you all previously with my utter astonishment that the big galoot who got my job in the doublet bar when I stood down from the regiment somehow went on to take Eastwood from flintlock and axe wielding Allan Stewart? Compounded by his rising status in House of Commons by running the football team?. Baffling?
@weefoldingbike - loving the no pies stored overnight in this van

The Scots music group, consisting of ladies and gents of a certain maturity, are wrapped in big striped woolly jumpers or anoraks, as well they might for it is chilly at the open-air Balerno farmers' market.

once 363 day Alec douglas Hume went, prime ministers have alll had fairly full heads of hair
Callaghan wasn't much harier than Douglas-Home, he just had a more lush combover.
I don't think this particular Skeletor would be from Castle Grey Skull as he supports the other one of the ugly sisters.
Callaghan did recede in later years but in 1976, when he was 64, he had quite crafty combover that gave the impression of hairiness which is vital in a prime minister. Blair would have no chance now but G brown still has a thick thatch. He should make a comeback.
Being driven down the M6 today, a Lancashire footbridge had the following graffiti
Heart symbol Pies, your time is now 2015
Just been Populus polled.
'Which party' and 'economy' questions
'Do you think the economy will get a bit better/worse, a lot better/worse?' About the same wasn't an option.
'If there was a local election, which party'
'This is Scotland we have PR so normal to vote for more than one party'
'Oh, other people just said one party'
Not impressed.
M6 Southwaite services has a Greggs on the northbound side. On the southbound there is a bridge with a Greggs sign above it. It's the fabled bridge to Greggs. I have worshipped at the portal.
I had a call from a survey guy a few years ago who couldn't quite understand that I wasn't in England and some of his questions didn't work.
@gembo
Limmy is a minor genius. The one where he can't get his dad to take any interest in a picture frame that's actually a portal into another universe is brilliant.
And...methadone's worse. Naw hen, methadone's worse. Right?
Yes, I like him and I think talented. Also creepy and satirical. Uneasy laffs tho.
Hmmm...2 CCE-ers in one poll. Can't possibly be representative.
Down in Bedford which is apparently a three way marginal between Tories, lib dem and labour. Count of sign posts in gardens (they don't seem to do window posters in the part of Bedford where my in laws live). UKIP one (I am on the lookout for half bricks), lib dem one, Tories one (actually poster on a barn so quite big), labour five.
My in laws surprised at 3 way marginal as would have said Tory. UKIP should have no chance but may split Tory vote, Bedford has a very wide range of the British population. 100 year old Italian community, long established south East Asian communities, Somali community and more recent Eastern European all mingling with the ex colonials who came back from India in Edwardian times and expanded the town significantly from when John Bunyan wrote pilgrim's progress in the jail.
Only other poster was lib dem in Cumbria, he is winning according to the poster.

IAN Murray has Labour’s smallest majority in Scotland – but if the predicted SNP tidal wave subsides before polling day, he could have a better chance of being re-elected than many of his party colleagues across Scotland.
"
He's been a good MP - good voting record, accessible, couldn't ask for more really.
Have a similar liking for Limmy. Not 'funny', but whenever I see anything of his I've got to keep watching.
Saw bits of the debate last night - Ed's looking more and more relaxed and confident as the election goes on, and Nicola Sturgeon continued to impress (I don't particularly like her, but she's performing well and is clearly articulate and intelligent). Loved the end when the three ladies had a little group hug, then all went to shake hands with Ed, while spinny-eyed Nigel stayed apart from it all.
His accusation of a leftist agenda in the audience was rather well put down.
James Naughtie and Mr Humphreys on Radio 4 have been good with their morning politician guests. This morning some Labour bod (can't remember who) was asked a couple of times if it's true that Labour would rather see another Tory government than get into bed with the SNP. She gave a long-winded answer about the fact she thought there would be a Labour majority, which as well as being perfect avoidance betrayed a certain amount of bamboozling head in the sand. Naughtie tried again, pointing out she simply hadn't answered the question - she declared that she had, going further stating that she had actually given a very good answer (we'll be the judge of that) and then gave the exact same answer again. They do think we're stupid don't they? I mean, yes, it's a difficult question, but oh for some honesty and transparency...
He spoke to Annabelle Goldie later and (despite myself) I thought she coped better.
Oh and there was a wonderful UKIP / Greens moment. Speaking to UKIP's only Scottish MEP, and a Green candidate, mainly focussing on Trident (he seems to think that be 'part of the world' we need to be able to blow lots of people up, and seems to have been suggesting if we get rid of Trident then Putin will invade the UK).
Anyway, the Green candidate has a slight accent, I was torn between antipodean and South African. She mentions that she was an immigrant 15 years ago, and under UKIP wouldn't be allowed in. He jumps in with "Oh I presume you're saying you're an immigrant from England, hurr hurr". You could almost hear the cogs trying to make sense of it all when she said she was Zimbabwean, and had South African parents. I'm assuming she was white, which would explain his mumbled reaction that could probably be loosely translated as, "But how can you be African, you're not black."
It kind of descended from there into him saying ridiculous things, and her calling him an idiot (not in so many words), but I suspect that's the natural progression of things when discussing anything with UKIP.
Didn't watch the debate last night but one highlight had Leanne Wood from Plaid Cymru ask Ed Milliband this:
“Do you really think the problems caused by Isis can be resolved with nuclear weapons? If you were prime minister, would you press the button?”
I think he said 'no'. Or maybe it was 'no' as in 'don't be so stupid'?
In which case why are we renewing these weapons? Is there anyone he would turn these misguided weapons on then? What would Dave Cameron do?
Sorry for my gross simplification but the political answer you normally get is 'it depends'!
ha! I wish maggie chapman had said that to the odious UKIP MEP on R4 this morning.
SRD - "odious UKIP MEP" - there are other kinds of UKIP MEP? Who knew!
"They do think we're stupid don't they?"
I'm sure some do, but - increasingly - 'they' are demonstrating how stupid/out of touch some of them are.
Especially the 'entitled' - 'job for life' safe (no more) seaters and the 'Britain is still a/the World Power and anyone who thinks/wants different is not a proper Patriot'...
"I think he said 'no'. Or maybe it was 'no' as in 'don't be so stupid'?"
Slightly unclear.
I think he had just said that ISIS were 'biggest threat/most evil' (pretty sure he said evil) but of course 'we' couldn't nuke them.
(Why not wasn't clear - compared to being 'willing' to bomb other places with lots of "innocent civilians".)

“Putting aside your own party preference" -
Perhaps!
Don't know size of sample, but seems 'people in Scotland' clearly have a different judgement on "which one of the 5 leaders do you think performed the ‘best’?"
Or are "won" and "best" two completely different things!(?)
We should never forget that there is often a difference between who won a debate and who was "right".
@PS yes.
Not at all clear whether (apparently) different question for Scotland means results are comparable!
Did Ed try to distance himself from the war in Iraq at one point?
The Labour canvasser told me it was a long time ago before she joined the party.
"at this rate, by 2020 Nicola Sturgeon will be PM"
(not sure if the quote above is in the text linked to, but it was the text of the tweet that came with the link)
Indeed but the only one that matters is next month.
