Urgh. Saw this on another news source (London paper? Linked on twitter earlier) and it quoted witnesses as saying the lorry "cut across" the cyclist just before the collision.

Another person "colliding" with an HGV. That photograph is pretty graphic for all that it doesn't show signs of any people.

That roundabout was apparently considered for redesign a few years ago but the changes were not proceeded with in the form proposed.

That's very close to both the DfT and the Houses of Parliament.

Terrible. Sad. More news in London Standard. See also its link to report on "Lorry driver banned from the roads five times admits jumping red light and killing cyclist" about the killing of Alan Neve at Holborn in 2013

yikes. I used to use that roundabout sometimes when I lived in London. It wasn't even the worst one on my longer commute. So glad I don't have to cycle regularly in that sort of traffic any more.

    Awful for all concerned

I think that was the roundabout that TfL proposed re-doing as a proper Dutch-style one with an annular cycle track (ie. not the mockup shown in the Evening Standard link, a later proposal). But they may have decided to try that somewhere else now

    "

Ms Gemmill is the fifth cyclist to be killed on London’s roads this year – all involving HGVs.

    The Daily Mail went with,

"Queen's designer and V&A chief Moira Gemmill killed after hitting tipping lorry while cycling in central London"

a very different statement to the BBC's (far more likely): "Moira Gemmill was struck by an HGV".

    Anti-cycling agenda?
