Never been though I live in the area. Tail End is closer to the flat and Deep Sea is on my side of the road. There are so many chip shops and none of them are slimming...

"Edinburgh’s Chip Shop of the Year revealed"
... the largest consumer of the EEN.

Plenty of other chip shops about which are not connected to La Favorita and its drivers' appalling parking/driving.

"top spot after a public vote on our top ten tasty takeaways"
Hmm, methinks this isn't a very reliable competition.

Don't know why St Andrews in Porty always seems to get ahead of Golden Bite (a far superior chippie).

Best ever imo is the one in Biggar - better than any in the East Neuk where I grew up.

@Cyclingmollie - Think the one in Biggar won Scottish chippie of the year a few years ago?
Globetrotter Bruntsfield or Marchmont Takeaway both good and fairly local for me.

Globetrotter was "my" chippy when I lived at Bruntsfield. Good chips and decent pizzas and very friendly staff. When I lived in Marchmont I was more of a Salvatore's man.

If you are ever in Aberdeen, visit the Ashvale restaurant. Now *that* is fish and chips! Excellent to dart in or takeaway.
Great chippy in Pittenweem too IIRC.
My local chipper is Giovanni on Easter Road. Not bad at all, fish is usually quite fresh. Decent pizzas.

The Bell Rock in Arbroath is the best I've had in recent years. They don't just do smokies.
