  1. I've had absolutely nothing major, nor even the higher end of minor, happen ont he commute for ages, and then last night...

    Private hire cab (oh but isn't it always...) in a classic left hook made more dangerous due to my 25mph speed and the upcoming junction being a bit potholey;

    VW Polo on the roundabout downhill from the Playhouse. I'm turning right into London Road, he's coming up Leith Walk, I'm halfway round and he puts the foot down. My 'Oi!' was clearly heard through his open window so he slammed the brakes - then with me almost trackstanding in front waves me on - I'm not sure if it was conciliatory or 'get a move on I want to get onto the roundabout'; and finally

    Waiting to turn right off Portobello Road onto Northfield Broadway, a bus skims past my left elbow (I was almost stationary). I then realise the reason he came so close. He thought that that would be an opportune moment to overtake another cyclist who was heading straight on, just before some parked cars appear on the left meaning that cyclist has to move out to go past them. Must have come as close to both of us. No chance to get the number - he hared by going at least 30mph and I was stopped by now.

    Now, with those three out of the way can I get back to the lack of any intrusion into my bubble of not being squished?

    That post has made it into GuardianEdinburgh!

    "A cyclist tells of a series of near misses at the London Road roundabout on the City Cycling Edinburgh forum."

    That was true of the guy who started the site, but who seems to have disappeared? at any rate lots of different names posting stuff these days. I half-wondered if there's been complaints that he was too pro-bike :)

    I think it's just a short term contract freelance 'job'.
