Diagnosed cases of Lyme disease can be treated with antibiotics, but if left untreated neurological problems and joint pain can develop months or years later.
Organisers plan to protest outside the Department of Health in London where they will call for doctors to be made more aware of the latest research, diagnosis and treatment techniques.
I'll offer a clear translation of the BBC edit:
If you present bullseye rash or tick fever symptoms and the GP prescribes two weeks of antibiotics, insist on a full month.
Also, expect to feel much worse during this month, due to herx reaction
Do not wait for a positive diagnosis via blood test at Raigmore before demanding full month treatment. Many lyme tests are false negative
