    Network Rail

Bridge repairs following vehicle strike on 05/05/15.
Road closed to vehicular traffic. Pedestrian access restored 11/05/15. Road closure expected until 18/05/15 then approximately 10 days further work under temporary traffic lights.

Cycled on this last Sunday. Nice to be able to cycle this contested road space with lower traffic levels. Just open for access.
The turn off NCN 1 on to Newcraighall Road is steadily degrading. Bad kerbs and puddles.
Of course this closure is temporary so enjoy while you can....

Also note the building works at 'Newcraighall Village' beside cycleway are going apace. This should increase traffic but some owners may use cycleway into town I suppose.
Map suggests a new access - maybe covered elsewhere on forum?

Yes, that road is almost deserted at the moment. There was pedestrian access under the bridge a few days ago.

We'll see if the right of way through the site is maintained. Walking or cycling will be the only direct way of getting to Asda, the largest local supermarket. By car, as there seems to be no plan to link the site to Gilbertstoun, the route will be through Newcraighall and up onto the approach road from the A1. Or they can join the queues through Musselburgh. They should impact nicely on the new traffic to Tesco from the Pinkie development.

And the developers (the ones who demolished the bridge) have grubbed up half of the bramble patch. Idiots.

Went down to see Image Scotland about the SEStran Commuter Challenge T shirts. (They're going to be Kiwi green this year!)

Had time on way back to look at the degraded entrance to NCN1. Not getting any better and soon to be complicated by a neighbouring entrance to the new 'village'.

Our cyclist CC entrant from Newcraighall P+R will enjoy the tight left turn. It is a challlenge in itself.
