Yesterday Mrs LB and I noticed that all the battery boxes for QMU solars are still unused ( batteries stolen).
The panels though are still there being too difficult to steal.
Or are they used in some other way?

Even when they were new they were poor (tree cover doesn't help). It is odd that they have never been replaced particularly as it's a path to QMU.

The QMU lights are an awfully expensive way to avoid laying an electric cable. The solar panels would surely be much better positioned on the roof of the university, where they aren't at the bottom of a tree-covered slope that obstructs the sun most of the time. While they're at it they could have stuck the batteries somewhere less accessible and more secure than a street-level cabinet with a generic services lock on it.

That path ought to get more use when the Borders line opens.

More so if this is ever done.

This potential route will provide a more direct link between the station’s platform and Park & Ride site on the west of the railway line and the National Cycle Network Route 1 (NCN 1), Newcraighall Park and beyond to Queen Margaret University (QMU) to the east.
