Haha, Rent-a-quote Greig: “We have had enough of these problems.”
Also, don't think the Gogar works have made things any worse that usual so far.
That wouldn't cause 'hours' of delays at Haymarket even if you were to get off the bus at the first hint of a stalled queue and walk past the works to get the first bus on the other side.
Possible difference if you're in a car of course.
Hell isn't slightly delayed traffic. Although I imagine having to wade through knee-deep raw sewage pumping out of a broken major sewer would give at least a flavour of what it could be like.
Interesting quote from Neil Greig:
“The trouble in Edinburgh is that we are only one set of roadworks away from disruption anyway. We are already at capacity.”
So, what is he (and IAM) doing to get people out of the cars that are taking up the vast majority of that capacity?
"That wouldn't cause 'hours' of delays"
Perhaps it is a reference to the suffering borne by TraffoFlux, the gestalt meta-driver and Lord of Motoring, Whose embodiment and strength waxes and wanes according to the speed and volume of motorism on Their roads. The flow of foul waters in pipes beneath roads' surfaces are of little concern to Them. They experience the sum of all delays to all motorists, easily totalling hours across an entire junctionsworth of drivers throughout an entire day. Their mind knows every fragment of chaos suffered by every driver, anywhere.
“The trouble in Edinburgh is that we are only one set of roadworks away from disruption anyway. We are already at capacity.”
Sounds like he's making the case for congestion charges.
How about just on the Ingliston to Haymarket corridor?
No excuse for driving there at all!
