That RBS road

    I went down the resurfaced / remastered bit of road to RBS from Currie this morning. Wow - what a difference in driver behaviour with no centre white line and cycle lanes on each side!

    I've always avoided the road as a write off rat run but now it's extremely pleasant.

    Small sample sizes etc. but nonetheless.

    @Dave. I agree (although I may be slightly biased). It certainly feels as if cars are passing more slowly now, and giving more space than they used to.

    There was a bit of peevish hooting in front of me this morning when I think one car felt that a car coming the other way hadn't made enough room for it, but that's the only time I've seen any problems so far.

    Like you imply, I think this road has moved from the 'avoid if possible' category to the 'a useful link between A8 paths and points south'.

    To be honest it's hard to believe that it has actually been built. Only the one bit where the lanes strangely disappear (where are the cyclists supposed to go?) spoils a nearly flawless implementation.
