Lochend Road - Newbridge to Kirkliston

Following the success of Gogar Station Road, there was a wondering of what next within my works regular cyclists.

Lochend Rd between Newbridge and Kirkliston was picked as being well overdue some repairs and hopefully the full GSR treatment. It's very similar - narrow, windy, heavy peak traffic and appalling surface. Oh and a good link for cyclists getting to the A8 cyclepath from Kirky, SQ or the FRB.

Several bits of nagging later and whilst it isn't getting the full GSR treatment we have got this positive response.

We have recently carried out a detailed inspection of Lochend Road and recognise that the current rough condition of the road would be felt more by cyclists than drivers. As such, we will prepare a schedule for local resurfacing repairs and hope to be in a position to appoint a surfacing contractor later in the summer months. I can not confirm the scope of repairs as yet, but hope to be in a position to resurface the worst local sections as necessary.

Great to see them CEC getting that Road surface matters to cyclists.

Just been tweeted by the local SNP Cllr that Lochend Rd will be resurfaced starting 9th May.

It will be closed for 2 weeks, but I'm sure we can put up with that to get it sorted. :-)

    That's good.

Is this going to be combined with work to improve the crossing point of the A8 cycle path? It would seem like a good time to do it.
