News Release –Wednesday 24 June 2015
Mark Beaumont, the record-breaking long-distance cyclist, and Roseanna Cunningham, MSP for Perthshire South and Kinross-shire, will officially open the new Comrie Croft mountain bike trail network at 09:00 on Saturday 27 June, as part of the Cream O’ The Croft Bike Festival.
The three day Cream O’ The Croft Bike Festival, a fun packed, family-friendly weekend on fat tyres, from Friday 26 to Sunday 28 June, is being staged to celebrate the completion of the trail network at Comrie Croft, to officially open it to the public and to showcase the great variety of riding on its compact 16km network.
Mark Beaumont, who recently smashed the World Record for the fastest solo ride for the length of Africa (41d 10h 22mins), said: “I live and train near Comrie, in rural Perthshire, so I'm delighted to now have the amazing Comrie Croft mountain bike trails on my doorstep and it is a pleasure to officially open them. The 16 kilometre network of trails are in easy reach of Edinburgh, Glasgow and Perth, and have an impressive range from the novice to the really tricky black route! For such a compact area there is a fantastic mix of trails that suit all skill levels, ages and fitness abilities, combined with a quality bike hire shop. I am looking forward to exploring the tracks more and seeing lots more people coming to Perthshire to experience the best riding in Scotland!"
