The bulldozers have been knocking down the disused site of what I think was called kiinleith mill. A very big site that if turned to housing which now looks likely will cause fair bit more traffic on a70. I think they might be blowing up some of the bigger bits of concrete? Hence the path closure as there is no building left on the site.

Diversion will I think go up to the hamlet of blinkbonny

Kinleith Mill had a 280-foot tall chimney, to carry the smoke out of the valley and away from the village of Currie. It was known as "Willie's Lum".

There are some good pictures in the Scotsman Picture Library; http://thescotsmanpublications.newsprints.co.uk/search/bykw/b/f/0/1

@kaputnik, thanks for that link. A very tall chimney. Must have swayed in the wind? Some of the proposed developments on the site have equally tall buildings (slight exaggeration).

The other site that has most recently impacted on the WoL path to a degree with access at juniper green is the former splash bathroom warehouse and before that engine shed. Six flats now on offer (though Don!t look finished). There was an open afternoon on Friday when I was taking bike in for service to just bike repairs. Starting from£725000 for the discerning buyer who likes the shade, horses, motorbikes, pedestrians and cyclists.

Should also have pointed out the Curriehill primary school now knocked down. Houses built for families who will then stow out the school down the hill called curriemprimary

Was delayed previously due to the weather, so shut from Currie kirk to waulkmill loan just before Balerno. For the plastic to go down. Man laying it saying over time horses will churn it up but that horses would churn up anything over time

And I thought it was buses all this time...

What surface are they laying? I heard it was shut but a quick search of CCE failed me. Not more whin dust mud slurry I hope?

No, @dave it is a one km trial of Ultritec. A plastic made from recycled tyres.

Nice! I would really prefer WoL on the way home but as it is, I only try once or twice a year to remember how bad it is.
