Why I've got to put up with a barrage of fireworks loud and low outside my window a clear 27 days before bonfire night?
What are we meant to be celebrating?
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

Did no one invite you to the CCE fireworks and champagne party?
It's my daughter's birthday.
(Though she is in London.)
(Though she is in London.)
Well I'm sure she'd be able to see and hear them from there!
I was wondering about that too. It's not Diwali till November, it's not Eid - I dunno.
Also completely OT, I've just had a text from a friend saying he's turned up at my birthday party only to find himself in a stranger's wedding, which is hardly surprising given my birthday's not for another month.

Genius!
"Genius!"
Clearly not...!
There is a Hindu festival on that a colleague told me about. I didn't catch the name but this fits the description.

Could be that?
I don't think that could be it. The fireworks were on Saturday night, quite early, and from where I was sitting, looked like they might be coming from the Meadows or that kind of direction. (I'm at St Leonards and my windows face west).
Sunday evening was Dussehra Parade, bonfire and fireworks (on Calton Hill). Know that 'cos was on duty at that trying to prevent the City Observatory burning down from flying embers and big dodgy fireworks going off! But was much fun and the rice dumplings and hot sauce by Banana Leaf catering of Glasgow was fantastic!
As it is an Indian festival not a drop of alcohol was to be seen! Very friendly. Well organised but poorly suported by the peeps of Edinburgh... shame! Saw a few cyclists trying to follow parade alongside but they were often on pavements... naughty!
"poorly suported by the peeps of Edinburgh"
You never told us about it!
thanks rampant hampshire. Although they sounded more like they were being launched from my back green than Calton Hill. The reason I was irate was I was trying to true a wheel and every time it scuffed past the brake block there was a BOOM and a BANG and I had to wait for the next revolution ad infinitum
There was a small bunch of fireworks a couple of weeks back apparently somewhere over the portal region of Leith. I'd assumed they were for some sort of cruise-boat-related party type thing and had assumed the more recent ones were from somewhere similar for something similar. Can't be long now until it's time for neds to start attempting to blow their fingers off again, though...
Met a nice Ned today outside the jobcentre, admired my steed and pointed out that id left my lights and pump clipped on. we talked about saddles for a bit and he said "I cycle everywhere me." was no bad!
sorry for putting the thread ontopic again :P
hardly a ned if they pointed out your stuff would get nicked
"I'm a bit woooah a bit wheeeey I'm a geezer.. I will nick 'em"
