I picked a team as if it was a team, Teejay's and nairo bit of competition, but Teejay clearly number two. My team also has too many flat specialists and Antony Martin for his 100km break always.

I notice on perusing that a more likely way of winning the fantasy is to have two leaders, e.g. Froome and contador. In effect you then have two real teams trying to get your first guys points.

I predict I will fade after week one,

The fantasy league set up is however not like the reality as teams try to be clear who is number one or they start falling out.

What, it is just a bit of fun? Aw, ok.

  2. I'm hoping my 'long game' strategy pays off. Have a few riders who I think will be inside the top ten from the start of the second week, which should see the points start to climb, with a smattering of riders I 'think' will try for a breakaway stage win at some point.

Had a real debate with myself between Cav and Greipel. D'oh! I'm sure Cav will come good though...

Looks like my agressive team talk yesterday morning paid off. After a spectacular nil points on Saturday, now sitting comfortably mid-table.

I thought this was one of those leagues where you change the team round between each stage. I chose in 2 minutes thinking I could put some more thought into it later. Oops.
However, my technique of random allocation has proved better than me thinking about it!

TeamEPO have joined the massed ranks. I've just seen that I forgot to confirm my final team changes though so I'm gonna get trounced

I fear that my fairly random rider selection is going to lead to Team Hmm rapidly sliding down the table, despite scoring considerably more points following day 2 than 1.

I can at least take solace in that I am currently at the top of the leaderboard of a Formula 1 prediction website!

I managed to not come last in a department fantasy sports game mini-league we were all chivvied into a few years ago despite selecting a team entirely on name-sounds and never touching the line-up after the initial selection.

Today should be the real test? Haven't checked the weather.

I was cycling on Moray place yesterday in the rain. Wet smooth setts are not nice!

Managed to not bad with last years world cup using a random number generator...

  10. Football I can do. Won the last couple of (Men's) World Cup prediction leagues (I'd have struggled to pick out a 5-2 final scoreline from last night's match). Cycling stuff I tend to fall flat on my face...

Ah yes, further up thread too!

    Couldn't find on their site.

24 CCE teams - pretty impressive (apart from one 'sleeper' at bottom...

Anyone running a book on the CCE riders??

I suggest a book would be unethical due to the presence of mini+micro-SRDs in the league.

    Not because of age.

Because they're comprehensively beating most of us.

"Because they're comprehensively beating most of us."

    Insider knowledge.

They could be disqualified (for no good reason of course - useful 'life lesson'...)

There was nothing on the signup about age limits. It just asked for name and email address which said DS has....

    She's loving it, btw.

Still waiting on Rolland and Boom to trouble the scorekeepers, although I'll forgive the latter as I smile every time I see his name.

Team is definitely being held up by the sprinters though...

Lars' dad came from the moon and sings a good song about his daughter who has same name as my eldest daughter and also another cracker about electricity. Good old Mr Boom

Note also that my favoured molteni Jersey is popular within our league and even team marmite getting a run out. The omens are good. Quintana just needs to fight it out with tejay

Just spotted that every member of Waitrose/Lidl scored in stage three.

    Outrageous.

    @Darkerside

This is what happens when you assemble your team in a rush, assisted by a 4- and 8-year old....

I think chdot was right and miniSRD knows far more than is letting on. A Directeur Sportif based in the Antarctic might well be onto something. All that going into headwinds on ultra-pavé surface would pay off hugely when you ride in normal conditions. Clearly microSRD is in on it too.

Team Levure Propagation (en Français) has found itself with a rank beginner who probably only competes when on quality Dutch infrastructure, so only eight out of nine are actually contributing.

I've somehow managed to luck out and currently sit top of the table. I'd like to pretend it's skill but must admit it's mostly luck.

The plan was to pick two top GC contenders, 2 top sprinters, 2 OK climbers (to cut costs), two cheap riders who'll hopefully try a few breakaways, and a TT specialist. The team wouldn't work in real life but it's all fantasy so game on!

My one worry is Laurens Ten Dam who dislocated his shoulder, but then popped it back in and is racing again today. Let's see how the cobbles treat him today....

I just chose riders that I like. Next time I'll know to take it more seriously! (Still not sure I could bring myself to add Froome though)

I'm glad to hear that others chose Lars Boom, although I have three other riders in Team Hmm who are yet to score.

I cant be bothered to check rules, but if a person was to lose a top rider on day two...grrrr Fabien..can they add in an injury sub?

    I am guessing no :-)

Check the website, but SRD doesn't think you can in this game.
