I'm somewhat surprised that I managed to select in-form riders. Naturally having said that, let's watch my guys all crack today...

HTC-Lowroad totally dominating the pack. Catchable?
Posted 9 years ago # -
I seemed to have lucked out and picked in form riders. No doubt the team will dip when the GC big guns (Froome, Quintana etc) start taking it seriously.

Uh-oh...Dan Martin's out. So is Nacer Bouhanni. Both in my squad and scoring well.
Pants...

Damnit. Mini-srd aka 'fun bike' was going to put dumoulin on her velogames team AND she'd said I could be co-DS, but we didn't actually get the team set up.

HTC-Lowroad is 5th overall. That is impressive.

Wow! Thanks for pointing that out. I would like to claim I had some special kind of insight when picking the team but I must admit some lucky picks.
Even a broken clock is right twice a day ;-)

I've decided to stop paying attention to the Vuelta. Onwards to the ToB!! http://www.velogames.com/tour-of-britain/2015/

Great, Can I have some bonus points for signing up quickly? It's my only chance.

"Fantasy Vuelta a Espana is free-to-play, but that does not mean there are no prizes! This season, the winner of the contest will receive £150 (UK Pounds)."
Boom!!!
Congratulations, top effort.Posted 9 years ago # -

Well done Earthowned! That's some spendolas for you!

Well done earthowned, Head and shoulders above the rest of us.
Coxy rather spolit our rivalry by doing well in the final stage. Well played.
Posted 9 years ago # -
Interesting, earthowned I am guessing did not pick any of those who crashed but did go for Aru, Rafa Majka, Dumoulin, Puerito, Quintana etc? Seems obvious now.

Well that was an unexpected result!
I went mainly for climbers who would get stage wins but also picked a decent sprinter who could get over some of the hills (degenkolb) and some TT specialists (Dumoulin and Cancellara)
Only had 2 dropped out - Spartacus and Talansky. Not sure what was going on with the latter. He's had a bad year and I really thought he would give the Vuelta a crack.
Since the prize money was unexpected it only seems fair to donate it to someone who needs it more. I think Qhubeka seems an apt choice as it will buy a bike for an African schoolkid or teacher.

" I think Qhubeka seems an apt choice as it will buy a bike for an African schoolkid or teacher."
What a great move.
I hope you will be willing to get this publicised by the organisers - it may persuade other people/sponsors to do something similar.

Can't go back on the promise now! ;)
Posted 9 years ago # -
well, if 15 of us ante up £10 we could match earthowned's generosity...
Posted 9 years ago # -
Already 'out there' (as winner).

Good idea, but not sure everyone wants to be 'seen' to join in - or be seen to not be
Presume there is a 'donate' link?
Posted 9 years ago # -
It takes a few clicks to get there, but the donate page is here: http://www.givengain.com/cause/4669/projects/12962/

We (fietsclub Balerno) raised £65 for Qhubeka on saturdaywith th big GED fender blender bicycle smoothie maker and our small pink kids bike turbo challenge at Balerno farmer's market in the rain. We had one visitor from newington.
