    and if one was to rank the cycle-friendliness of the top 10 list at the bottom of that article?

    I'm not sure that the Scotsman is correct when it says "The Capital has been ranked the best in Britain and in the top ten of European cities for the quality of life it offers to employees" - when not all British cities were considered, and only businesses were consulted. Also Edinburgh came well down in most categories, but no mention of these.
    Its also no surprise it has the 3rd cleanest air when its far from anywhere else and blowing a gale all the time.
    Whilst Edinburgh has a number of things in its favour, I can't help feeling if a (? large) number of people from Edinburgh were not so smug and complacent about the city's 'superiority', then it could improve further.
