Cycled down Lothian Road last night and did my usual cut across the pavement to head across to Queensferry Street and...what's this! A dropped kerb and another dropped kerb at the end of the diagonal.

Have the Council finally got the message? Will it painted in between to indicate it's a proper route for bikes?

I especially love the way it dumps you onto the tracks at that angle.

  4. Of course a complaint about the angle it dumps you out at is presuming it's a cycle route, and without having any symbols it's designation isn't clear (nor, presumably, yet legal to cycle that way). Would make sense to allow the left turn for bikes, though wouldn't like that crossing when busy with pedestrians.

Nothing showing on the tram plans for this area.

The drop kerb on shandwick place has been there since the end of the tram works. I'm guessing it's meant to dump cyclists at 45 degrees to the tram lines for traveling down Queensferry Street

If CEC do put in a bike route I fully expect it to be closed when the restaurant (formerly Rutland) wants to put it's table and chairs out.

Took another look at this area. Looks like the route is blocked by a concreted in umbrella
