IT is a development set to bring a touch of Manhattan to the Capital’s waterfront.

Updated concept designs for a landmark hotel opposite Ocean Terminal shopping centre have been released, amid hopes it will become a magnet for tourists and underpin the wider regeneration of Leith.

I suppose if the Flatiron building was a generic big glass box then this comparison could just about work.

I'm fairly sure that's the same design as proposed before. Evening snews seems to have fallen for the marketing hype as per usual.

I'd guess tram contribution for this should be around the £750k mark, but fully expect it to be negotiated down to about £10k

I hope they like wind vibration...

There seems to be a thing just now for building tall, standalone buildings in a city with very few tall, standalone buildings (and that is all the better for it).

Of course at one point olde Edinbvrghe was building some of the tallest buildings in the known world, but cunningly by doing so on a steep slope with multiple lower levels, so that they didn't really look that tall from the front at all.

Yes, that pub which has been the car wash, was Dutch one with carpets on the table in 1987 etc, on the mound then maybe eight floors of flats above was the tallest building in the world at one point
