    PRESS RELEASE

    "

    Bike buffs and cycling enthusiasts, get ready for an action-packed, adrenaline fuelled weekend as the inaugural CycleFest Edinburgh rides into town this September.

    Sponsored by the Edinburgh Bicycle Cooperative, CycleFest Edinburgh is a two-day celebration of cycling for novices and experienced riders alike. Taking place at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange, the family-friendly festival will showcase a multitude of exhibitors stocking the very latest bicycles and accessories for you to get your hands on, plus there’ll be a plethora of workshops, celebrity appearances and stunt displays to keep you gripped all weekend.

    Making a very special appearance at the show will be BMX champion and Guinness World Record holder, Matti Hemmings, AKA Matti Axel from the hit Nickelodeon show, Get Your Skills On. He’ll be there to present breath-taking tricks, from bunnyhops and sliders to grinds and foot jams, kicking out all the moves in the specially created outdoor track area.

    Adding an extra nail-biting edge to the weekend will be Savage Skills, a freestyle mountain bike stunt team with eight World titles and 25 British Championship titles to their name. Jaws will drop as they wow the crowds with their repertoire of interactive tricks, jumps and stunts.

    All this plus the chance to learn to ride like a pro with the likes of Redscar and important advice on staying safe with Cycle Law Scotland. CycleFest Edinburgh is also throwing in cheerleaders and a bagpiping, juggling, unicyclist for good measure making it an unmissable weekend.

    Boyfriend of Fimm went along - his bike is in the bike parking photo and he is in one of the other photos inside.

    I don't think he was all that impressed - his comment was that the website was poor and didn't really sell - for example it didn't have the list of speakers so he only found out that there were talks when he got there. He chatted to a couple of exhibitors who he was particularly interested in but I'm not sure he thought it was worth the £10 entrance fee.

  10. The website was definitely one of those 'looks good on first sighting' things, but as you went in the detail was completely lacking. F'rinstance there was the pic of Obree on the homepage and banner, but as fimm says nothing in the list of speakers etc. (as in 'nohing', not even Obree not being there, just 'nothing').

    As it was had a busy weekend anyway, but can't say I was too enticed in any event, though I ight just be being a miserable sod, and really it's only by supporting things like this that they'll grow and improve.

    And still up on the Balgreen end of the Stenhouse-Balgreen expressway, and in Roseburn Park.

    Rang up the Corn Exchange and asked them to sort it. Could those of you who ride those paths more often than me let me know if any of them come down?

    thanks

    Today I noted Cyclefest flyers on cycle path gates at:

    * Saughton Road/Stenhouse Drive
    * Balgreen Road
    * Roseburn Park

    Not a great show from the organisers/promoters! I daresay POP would never stand for that.

    There's still a PoP poster on the lamppost outside the Roseburn Tesco. I keep forgetting to take scissors to cut the cable ties to remove it.

    Eek. Petard. Hoisted.

    @stickman - a sharp tug should suffice to at least remove the offending poster

    I ride past that pop poster at roseburn every day and smile as it gets more and more faded. So probably my bad. I'll take it down :)
