The bus shelter outside The Norhet pub (Davidsons Mains) has been replaced.

The old shelter was u-shaped with the open side being on the North. This provided good shelter, even when the wind was from the north (because of the pub).

The new shelter is l-shaped, with the 2 sides sheltered being the north and east... which means it's totally open to the prevailing south west winds.

    Utterly useless.

Do the people responsible for these shelters actually think about wind direction?

There was a thread elsewhere about this. The new shelters come courtesy of JCDeceaux to whom the council flogged the rights to install fancy bus shelters and the advertising rites to them.

I can only assume that the boulevards and "rues de" of Paris where they are headquartered are slightly less prone to wind and rain driving in off the North Sea than Edinburgh is.

The chipwrapper is already upset about the shelters too as being every bit as unprotective from the elements as those at the tramstops are.
