    Hello,

a friend has asked me about the availability of vintage Raleigh parts in Edinburgh - specifically for restoring a DL-1 Raleigh Tourist - initially looking for tyres, tubes and brake pads.

I'd be very grateful if anyone has any advice about where to get such parts.

    many thanks as always

First stop I guess would be a rake about in the parts bins at the Bike Station. There's lots of old fashioned components stripped off of bikes that were scrappers.

Pads for vintage brakes are fairly easy and cheap to get online as they still make them. I have a feeling Bicycle Works may have some on the shelf.

Tyres and tubes in most olde sizes fairly easily available online too.

What tyres are they? The Bike Station does sometimes have 27 inchers, but don't expect them to be labelled or racked as such.

thanks for the helpful replies - I am told that the tyres are 28 x 1.5 and have an unusual pattern - the brakes are operated by rods rather than cables unusual brake pad shape…
