I'm about to leave. I will have a Brompton with me.

Sorry - tricky to get to from here. Have fun!

I used to work with Patrick before he set up Pilot Beer. Absolutely top bloke. And his beer is good as well.

Great turn out!

So it is.
Free wifi without password too.

I'm hugely upset that this could have happened while I was off the grid. To console myself, I'm listening to this, and I commend it to the house.

For some reason I thought that was going to be the new series of Absolutely (from the pictures). I am listening to the kinks on Jarvis cocker show

Meant to come back and say that it was nice to meet everybody and thank you for being nice to Boyfriend of Fimm.
We walked back down to Akva on Monday (I had the day off) and had a pleasant lunch - I'm sure we will go back (we used to go to Cargo semi-regularly simply for the nice walk). There's a limit to what they can do with the space, I guess - we were speculating that maybe putting up some partitions would make it a bit less big and echo-y.

If we start planning now we could have an Xmas night out?

"If we start planning now"
Sounds like a good idea.
Do we have long discussions about venues?
Akva was better than OK, but really was too noisy for easy conversations involving more than about 3 people.

Would also suggest cut-off date of about 12th Dec.

Back room of the Oxford Bar or side room of the Cumberland Bar make for easier discussion environments. What other hostelries similarly have rooms or areas sufficiently off the main bar?

Diggers has a function suite, will do gammon sandwiches, egg sandwiches. Actually diggers is never really that busy, also has a snug that might be too small. Kay's bar has a nice separate back bit with books, Clarks bar at the bottom of Dundas street has a separate booth area. Not suggesting any of these just because I like them, merely listing.

The Royal Dick just off meadows in courtyard of the old vet school / Summerhall has a room that can be reserved. Good sized. Nice beer and gin brewed/distilled on site.

Central positioning would make it easier for more far-flung CCErs to attend

"Central positioning"
Summerhall should cover that for 'most' people(?)
Large courtyard for bikes.
"room that can be reserved. Good sized"
Seating for?

Pricing of the tasty beer at Summerhall was surprisingly reasonable during the Festivals so I'd assume that this will continue or be even more reasonable out of season.

One of my clients has just moved to Summerhall :)

The Doric tavern is the nearest pub to Waverley station. It does not have a separate area but the upstairs bit is quite quiet. Joni Mitchell is barred from this pub (well may be under new ownership and the owners don't know who Joni is). The white horse is the oldest pub on the high street. Across from the facade retention ( that building is a shell of its former self). There is a back lounge and might be hire-able? The same owners as aqva, Hemma etc but in the wee old man's pub half of their portfolio.
