Sounds like it was the stretch of the NEPN behind Ferry Road Morrisons at Ainslie Park.
Fairly early but might be a few commuters about at that time.

That's always the danger spot on the NEPN. But blimey, that's a bit early in the morning for that sort of thing. Couldn't the scrotes sleep or were they still up after a night out. I used to commute on the path at that time of day and rarely saw anyone, let alone had any trouble.

Yes, you would have thought he would have been safe at that time in the morning. Poor guy, that must have been very scary.
