You don't have a chance

Listening to the radio as I do some decorating, I hear the following.

"If you wear a cycle helmet, you give yourself a chance. If you don't wear a helmet, you don't have a chance".

That's all, nothing more, nothing less. Anyone have any idea which of our benevolent public agencies are bankrolling this misinformed campaign?

Wow, so no helmet now equates to certain death while wearing one give you a chance of surviving massive internal injuries.

Ok, perhaps I'm being a little dramatic but it's interesting that the top three results when I Google that phrase are all pro-no.

Be interesting to have a poll on here about helmets with a simple Helmet Yes or Helmet No question.

That poll would never work here... Giving a binary choice to those such as ourselves who prefer shades of nuance or clearly defined parameters when presented with such a question, would result in no responses, but lots of discussion!

For example, see our previous discussions about defining a British Standard little old lady, or at least a CCE standard LoL!

I wore one on Saturday, didn't wear one today. A reason to wear one - my children have been convinced I will die if I don't. Nuanced barely begins to describe it.

Did not have helmet on this morning as came down WoL Path then canal. Got very loud toot from driver in Cowgate, I was overtaking parked lorry that meant the car was perhaps slightly restricted in the speed it could go up the other side of the road. Maybe if you do not wear a helmet you are then fair game for all motorists?

If I had a way of mounting an action cam that pointed where I looked rather than where the bike was looking that would be grand.

I never wear one and rarely get grief, by which I mean I can go years without any issues.

Number 4 son is likely to tell other people about the relative risks of wearing vs not wearing one. I've had to dissuade him from doing this at the skate park.

I also did not have a cap on just my shore ditch quiff. Maybe all you need to wear is a bunnet? Dougal can you not mount an action cam to a Tilly? Or a head band like a running light?

Perhaps looking Kojak makes them worried.

There is a head strap mounting for the Virb but I'm happy enough with it on the handlebars. Virb has a shoulder mount and GoPro has a chest mount. I saw a lady with one on the way up Conic hill yesterday.

One of mine came with a clip which was meant to be fitted to each side of the fabric of a cap, clamping together through it. Probably the VeHo muvi 001 as anything else would be too heavy.
