Cars are going to be banned from large parts of Dublin city centre, says council

"CARS LOOK SET to be banned from Dublin city centre under radical new plans being put forward by Dublin City Council and the National Transport Authority."

That will be interesting as the cars up and down either side of the Liffey are constant in the morning. Dublin has as much if not more car access to its city centre than UK cities.

"The Dublin City Development Plan has set a target for 55% of travellers to and from the city centre to use public transport, 15% to cycle, 10% to walk and 20% to use private cars by 2017."

Quite ambitious. Mind you, Edinburgh is going in that direction. What would it take for Edinburgh to match targets like these?
