In light of recent bike-related travails and growing repair bills to the Crosser, Mrs Mandopicker suggested that I might wish to obtain a new bike. My works Cycle2Work scheme is currently open so this seems a serendipitous option(although we've thrown our lot in with Halfords).

Having perused Halford's own options, I've also looked at other suppliers involved in the scheme.

I'm quite taken with Mango's cross and roadbike options.Point All-Road bike and the Point Road-Bike slot into the right sort of price brackets, my tendency being towards the road-bike to be honest as I'm actively thinking of joining a club.

Before signing away the cash, does anyone have any experience of Mango bikes (good, bad or indifferent)? Road.cc seemed to think the road bikes were pretty good for the money...

After entering the Win-a-Brompton! competition it occurred to me that when my entry comes to naught...ah ha! – I could buy one through my work's cycle to work scheme. Then I discovered that a titanium Brompton with such niceties as mudguards, a telescopic seatpost, lowered Edinburgh gearing and a SON hub dynamo is shockingly expensive these days.

The more I thought how lovely it'd be, the more I realised that actually, I'd feel sorry for the highly customised but shoulder tearingly heavy Brompton I own already. The mythical grey metal is wonderful stuff but lusting is a lot cheaper.

@mandopicker, road bike looks good. I changed colours, tyres etc but could not figure the upgrade to 105. I would get it. If I had another space in the garage.

I don't have a SON on my S2L-X but it gets round Edinburgh quite happily with the standard gearing. 100 psi Kojacks on setts is the main problem.

I'm not any less fond of my other Bromptons just because of the S2L-X and they are more practical for many uses.

Excited to be taking kids to LBC for (temporary) n+2 collection this afternoon. Temporary because there will have to be an n-1 at some point after, with the other outgrown bike off the basement to await #3 getting bigly.

What's the best way to arrange n-1? I have a 2013ish Revolution Cyclocross that I'm wanting to get rid of. Hardly ridden (I got pregnant a month after buying it).
