Not sure if I've posted this already - but we're running a free campaigners' training day in Glasgow on the 5th March http://walkcyclevote.scot/training-day-saturday-5th-march/

This should be very hands on with lots of practically focused workshops on social (and mainstream) media, battling backlash, local and creative campaigning, running street audits and infrastructure rides, plus possibly a few familiar faces from on here ...

You do need to sign up via eventbrite so we know how many lunches to order https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/we-walk-we-cycle-we-vote-training-day-tickets-20469856893

@srd, I think that route is nearly all sign-posted if you are heading up from queen street to the canal,

Can report that not only is the route not signposted, but none of the roads have street name signposts either.

The Walk Cycle Vote cataloging odd candidate's support (or otherwise) for Active Travel is now live and ready for us to start contacting our candidatestreets to get their views.

Be interesting to see the range of responses we get from within the same party so get out there and make ask them...

We're still uploading all the candidate contact details so it will be a bit thin for Edinburgh at the moment.

Ah sorry. I saw you had most of my ward so I thought I'd kick off...

All the candidates are there, but we're still tracking down contact details. Websites are a bit 2015, apparently - Facebook pages is where it's at these days.

Is there a template for contacting candidates? Might be useful.

Hmm. I've avoided having a boilerplate text for sending to candidates because my feeling is that they turn people off (I know I got really annoyed last year when Labour party candidates all started sending us word-for-word identical emails, topped and tailed with a little personal anecdote about the time they went to Holland). I realise, looking at other people's campaigns that we're in a minority of one on this though ...

    Good thing too.

    Fair point.

What you're wanting to get is a straightforward answer to the question "Do you agree with WCV's Three Asks?", right?

I personally tackle the boilerplate reply problem by asking about a couple of specific local issues that tie in with the broader points and not necessarily in an implied-pro-cycling fashion.

@Frenchy - yes, exactly. They *should* have received (by one means or another) a survey from us, which we're keen for them to fill in, but simply emailing you (and copying us in) with their positions on the three asks will do as well.

@Klaxon - I'm learning that there is no end to the slipperiness of (some) politicians in wriggling out of a straight answer to a straight question!

Anyone else getting much luck in responses from candidates?

Corstorphine / Murrayfield has seen 4 of the 7 candidates in favour so far...

Just emailed the candidates I can find email addresses for, and also discovered I went to the same school as one (not in Edinburgh, or this wouldn't be at all interesting...).

After a herculean effort the Walk Cycle Vote team have given us the final scores

I understand the final refresh of individual candidates' responses will be going up shortly

Finally twittered at the 3 or 4 of my candidates that are on twitter last night. Bit late really. At least they'll know they have a voter who is interested in these things...

Search has failed me, but this seems a semi-appropriate topic. A communication with The Spurtle included a P.S. from them about whom one might ask about pedestrian-inconveniencing A-boards (relocation of). Living Streets seem a bit too high-level... Anyone tweeting about pavement clutter I should be following?

@unhurt - Stuart Hay of Living Streets (@streetwurrier on Twitter) can likely help. I don't see why it's too high level - it's absolutely their core business.

Section 129.2 Roads Scotland Act 1984 should be the law to quote. Not sure if you can move A board on to premises of owner if it blocks your way?
