are there cameras on junctions in Edinburgh to catch red light drivers?
have seen several RLJs - including one really blatant/dangerous one - at the Kings junction (Home street heading south to Leven street) recently and wondered if there was any option to ask for one to be installed there.

It's worth noting that the map above doesn't show the road(s) monitored by the red light cameras at junctions. For instance at the Slateford road/Angle Park Terrace crossroads with Ardmillan Terrace and Harrison Road only approaches from Slateford Road and Angle Park Terrace seem to be covered.
I say "seem" as I quite regularly see fools using all forms of transport blowing the lights at this junction. Only the Slateford Road <-> Angle Park Terrace direction of travel yields the "flash flash" of the camera.
I might have a look and see if I can spot yellow boxes on poles tonight.
These boxes at lights are not cameras, just housing units for them. There are very few cameras to go round.
IIRC, there was a tell tale sign of when these boxes were loaded with cameras or not, but I can't for the life of me remember what that was.
The flash units are designed to work whether or not the unit is loaded with a camera.
When the cameras were originally put in I think there were 27 speed / red light posts and boxes. Police only had 2 speed and 2 red light cameras which were regularly moved about.
I notice that some of the original ones on Slateford road corridor have been removed.
Seem to remember one flash meant no film, 2 flashes meant you'd been caught.
The speed cameras are now all active are they not (and have been for some time)?
Is this not the case with the red light cameras?
