Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.

Battle Mountain record 2015
It's a big increase, too, about 3mph.
You can also see the progression from Georgi Georgiev's years of design and run and redesign and run, refining the approach from a rigid baseline of tech that had such traditions as 'a windscreen'. No doubt that the Varna speedbike was extremely refined for what it was.
But AeroVelo, like several others, has gone for hi-tech, and replaced windows with a TV screen. Now you can refine the aerodynamic qualities of the shell almost without regard to the rider's needs, and then build a chassis/part-monocoque to exactly suit the task. And because you're using TV, you have more freedom to put strong bits of the bike where they'd otherwise have blocked your forward vision. It's even less a bicycle and even more a missile, a purer statement of how fast one can travel by human power alone.
A smaller and more explosive rider, a bit more computing power and CFD, plus a bit more tyre technology, will edge the record higher. I think we could reasonably see 90mph achieved by 2020.
