"The road was more than wide enough for full segregated cycle lanes each side."

Yeah, but gotta have as much parking as possible -

Took a wander along Chambers Street today. Definite need for a crossing point at some point along the road. Still don't see the space as being useful as it doesn't join up with anything.

Seems Edinburgh Uni builders have taken upon themselves to close of the north side of the pavement forcing people on to the road.

The best thing they could have done would have been to close it to through traffic, apart from bikes.

Its a bus route, and the only way north of the meadows and south of queen st to traverse east to west and vice versa. I cycle it pretty much every day; its fine. The lengthy queues at either end mean most traffic is not in a rush. Enforcement of parking restrictions outside Richer Sounds in the morning would make it better, but the new surface is great (it was really bad before).

    Yes!

Just hope they dug down far enough to find out what caused previous surface subsidences AND SORTED IT!

Didn't take log for artic lorry's to find the new parking area. No idea how long it was there for but certainly creating a blockage.

White Van Man also found it this afternoon. A bus had just managed to squeeze past with some difficulty a moment before.

Interesting to see they've put bike racks at the "swerve" point on Chambers Street.

Personally I wouldn't even stand. High chance of being taken out by a vehicle that doesn't see the change in direction
