No notice if cycle access will be maintained. Seems like the work is mainly on the road system round about, so maybe the cycle path will not be affected?

motorists urged to avoid the vicinity of the Forth Road Bridge – which will remain open for local access only.

    "

    Whatever that means!

"What's a cycle?", asks Transport Scotland.

It speaks volumes about Transport Scotland that it doesn't occur to them that cyclists use this bridge.

We're not even on their radar.

Local access only- It means that there'll be 1000 drivers per hour trying to be 'clever' outsmarting the official diversion by driving into Queensferry. Given there's several areas of single car width passing on any route to the bridge, mostly due to on street parking, I wouldn't be surprised to see a genuine gridlock situation develop.

There will be no restrictions on the bridge to peds and cycles. Though it will be interesting to watch the GRIDLOCK through South Queensferry. I may cycle over with my boys to watch the car show spectacle.

I think leaving the bridge open to traffic for this is a big mistake, it'll be too tempting for many people to try to drive across. The mayhem on the roads will be entertaining though.

Transport Scotland isn't aware that people make non local journeys by bike or on foot.

I trust everyone's aware that FRB is shut today 4-6pm approx

Police Scotland, Amey, the Forth Road Bridge and Traffic Scotland can confirm that officers will shortly close the M90 and the Forth Road Bridge in both directions.
The road is due to close at approximately 4pm for at least two hours. All approaches will also be closed.
This is following the discovery of materials believed to be used in the demolition process at the site of the new Forth Road Bridge (Queensferry Crossing).

Although there is no immediate danger to the public, a decision has been made to dispose of these materials with the assistance of the Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit (EOD) and to close the road as a precaution during this time.

The Forth Rail Bridge will also close temporarily while the controlled explosion takes place. We are working with British Transport Police and Network Rail to facilitate this.

Police are advising members of the public who wish to travel on this road to postpone or bring forward their travel plans as the road is expected to be closed between 4pm and 6pm.

These times are approximate and can be brought forward or pushed back.

    etc
